BSc Msc MCSP MHCPC
I have worked as a Chartered Physiotherapist since 2001 and in Physio Health in Hackney from 2009.
As well as Physio Health I am now also working at the London Independent Hospital as the Outpatient Physiotherapy Lead where I oversee a team of 12 Physiotherapists. Within this role I provide the clinical direction for the department as well as working alongside Orthopaedic surgeons in the management of varying conditions with a more specialist focus on the shoulder girdle. In this time I have gained a great deal of experience in post-operative rehabilitation getting people back to full activity including high level sports.
My interest in the human body stems from my own experience as a semi professional footballer and very amateur triathlete. I did however initially start adult-life as a town planner! I soon realized the error of my ways (nothing against town planning) and changed career course towards Physiotherapy. I completed a Physiotherapy Bsc (Hons) degree in 2001 at the University of Hertfordshire.
I went on to take my first post at the Homerton University hospital and then moved two years later to Enfield Primary care Trust where I became a senior Physiotherapist and the educational lead across departments. I became a mentor for more junior staff as well as clinical supervisor for students. At this time I also worked in the Arsenal FC academy.
Within this time I gained a great deal of experience dealing with an array of conditions from back and neck pain to sports injuries and had achieved MACP accreditation signifying excellence in manual therapy. My desire for self improvement led me to do a MSc in Neuro-musculoskeletal Physiotherapy which I completed in 2011.
There were several course components including advanced sports rehabilitation, biomechanic assessment and pain management, which informed my practice enormously. From this my thesis was published looking at muscle activation around the shoulder girdle via magnetic stimulation of parts of the brain. During this time I took over Physio Health here in Hackney from an ex colleague and here I am today.
